Hi all! It’s my first ever garden I’m planting and after some research I *think* I have a good plan. Because I have no good clue what I’m doing I’d love any feedback. I have a spot in my yard that should get 4-6 hours of afternoon sun. I bought 2 4×8 garden beds and am in 8b. This is what I’m thinking but not sure if it’s any good. Every square is a sq ft.

Seems awfully crowded to me. Your watermelon, for example, are going to take over that entire bed and then some. I planted one hill (3 seedlings) last year, and they covered an area roughly 20ft x 20ft. Watermelons vine out like crazy! Tomatoes themselves will take up about 4sqft at least per plant once grown (if not more). I have 2 4ft x 8ft beds. In one, I do 2-4 tomatoes and 4 peppers and mix in carrots where I can. In the other I do 2 8ft rows of onions and the rest is bush beans. Thats it for 2 beds of your size. By the middle of summer they are completely full of growth. Id cut down by alot (you need to look into how much space a fully developed plant will take up, not how much space is between them when they’re small 😊).
