Wales & West Utilities finished the work in the Garden Lane area of Llandovery, which began last November and was part of a wider effort to improve the reliability and safety of the gas network for both homes and businesses.

The work was coordinated with Carmarthenshire County Council and included traffic management.

Adam Smith, who managed the project for Wales & West Utilities, said: “We would like to thank the local community for bearing with us whilst we completed this essential work.

“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the area.

“Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner, or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

“This work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport green gases in the future.”

Wales & West Utilities is the gas emergency and pipeline service for Wales and the south west of England, delivering energy to more than 7.5 million people through an extensive underground network of more than 35,000 kilometres of pipes.

The company does not sell gas but is responsible for transporting it.

Anyone who smells gas or suspects carbon monoxide should call the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999 immediately.
