Bought this hot pepper plant from a garden center as a starter. Had it for about 2 months outdoors in an indirect, sunny area. I noticed it gained a LOT of height quickly and thought it needed more sun so I moved it to a different area where it gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Have also had to water it everyday since. The leaves at the top bloomed fast and look healthy, while the leaves along the bottom all fell off. No flowers. I have a bell pepper plant that’s doing really well in the indirect sunlight spot.

I saw something about shortening the stem and replanting. At this point even a small hot pepper would tip it over surely? Any advice? Is this a dud and I should just cut my loss?

*Also, don’t mind the kebab stakes. I have squirrels everywhere that like to hide their nuts in my pots. My porch is like Fort Knox against these heathens.

Pot it up into a larger container and give it a trellis stake. Hot peppers take forever to produce but looks like you’ve done most of the hard work as leggy as it is.
