This retaining wall is being built by a handyman for a friend of mine (not my property). I don’t feel this is a sufficient retaining wall for this height. I want to intervene if there is anything that can be done to improve the situation. I have asked them to add French drains and backfill with gravel at least. Luckily it almost never rains here. From my limited knowledge this should have deadman’s, earth anchors, and or buttresses.

    It’s not going to break, but yes, it will fall over.

  2. The base needs to be much wider and deeper.
    Stop work and get an engineer in to design.

  3. That’s not going to hold, it’s not how you would build a retaining wall at all.

    Need a few feet behind that wall for drainage.

    It should have a larger footer : the concern is from overturning
