A woman has been rushed to hospital after a car ploughed through a fence and into the garden of a Scots home following a two-vehicle crash. Emergency crews raced to Westwood Road in East Kilbride at around 8.10am on Thursday after receiving reports of a collision involving two vehicles.

A grey car was involved in the crash near Westwood Square Shopping Precinct before it smashed through a metal fence and into the garden of a tenement flat. Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended the scene.

The woman was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment. Her condition is not known at this time and the cause of the crash has not yet been divulged either.

Images taken from the scene show a grey car veered off the road and plunged through a metal fence surrounded by trees. A police car and ambulance are also seen surrounding the vehicle.

The car has since been recovered. Photographs of the aftermath show a huge opening in the mangled fence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.10am on Thursday, 12 February, 2026, we received a report of a crash involving two vehicles at Westwood Road, East Kilbride. A woman was taken to Wishaw Hospital for treatment.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
