Bought a home and want to do some landscaping around the front because it is very bland. I thought about doing a short wall across the front and planting some small plants but, I have 4 crawl space vents that are basically at ground level. What approach would you take to these? We live on top of a rise but I don't want to risk water getting into my crawl space.

I wouldn’t raise the grade. Do your plantings at the current grade and mulch.
