Hi all. Recently acquired these industrial indoor grow lights. Wondering the safest way to use them as I admit they're a little scary lol. They were only $50 for everything pictured so I snagged them without knowing much about them or doing any research.

Depending on wattage (are they 1000w?), you can usually keep 4ft x 4ft area underneath lit.
Keep plants or anything else away from the hot bulbs. You can hang them from either a light mount or the ceiling.
Nothing special about the ballasts, just keep them somewhere they won’t get wet.
Lastly those will produce a lot of heat. Either you’ll need to provide additional AC, or you can directly vent the bulbs housing. (that is why the bulbs are in tubes, it’s meant to run air across them and vent somewhere else.
No need to be scared. I used these style of bulbs/hoods about 15 years ago for growing fruits/veggies indoors. They are very forgiving.
Plug them in and keep them away from water…
The blue is for vegging and the yellow is for flowering. You hook them up to an inline fan and carbon scrubber with some insulated flex ducting, sucking air through the carbon filter, across the light, and out the fan. From the fan to your exhaust vent you can use regular aluminum flex ducts.
You don’t have to use insulated ducts for the air cooled hoods, but it helps. Those lights get hot as hell and make hydroponics a nightmare unless you have a water chiller.
