TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The Shawnee Co. Extension Master Gardeners are gearing up for the growing season with a full slate of community events!
Members Kevin Siek and Pat McKinney visited Eye on NE Kansas to run down the list.
Both say the mission of the master gardeners is to share research-based horticulture information with the community. The group does this through various community seminars and programs, and their demonstration gardens.

Seed Starting 101: 6 p.m. Feb. 11, Topeka & Shawnee Co. Public Library
Planning a Vegetable Garden: 6 p.m. Feb. 12, TSCPL
Jackson’s Greenhouse Garden Show: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 21, 1933 NW Lower Silver Lake Rd.
2026 Topeka Home Show: Feb. 27 to March 1, Stormont Vail Events Center (Tickets $6/advance, $9/at door)
Topeka Common Ground Conference: 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 28, Washburn Tech (Tickets $25)
Party for the Planet: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18, Topeka Zoo (zoo admission applies)
The Shawnee Co. Extension Master Gardeners Response Line will open for questions April 1.
