A popular Liverpool bar and beer garden has announced its reopening date for 2026. Sub Rosa, from the team behind the much-loved Botanical Garden, opened its doors on Kings Dock Street in the summer of 2021.
Sub Rosa features a large events space, with room for up to 30 people, seating areas made from converted trolleys and a bar made from a shipping container.
The extensive drinks menu includes a range of lager created in collaboration with Black Lodge Brewery, several cocktails, and the hugely popular flavoured gin slushies.
The bar and its on-site burger kitchen, Burner, closed in September promising to return when the time is right. A message shared with guests at the time read: “Closing down always breaks my heart but I guess there is no permanent state and there’s enough life admin to keep us all stacked till next year.”

The Sub Rosa team has announced the bar will reopen on Saturday, March 14. Sharing the news on Instagram, the team said: “Screaming, crying, throwing up.
“So excited to be opening Sub Rosa this year on March 14th – if you’d like to join us and toast to the season ahead with a free delicious Lemon sour on us, throw us a like.”
The Burner burger kitchen will also return with a larger, improved truck. Burner changed its menu every week, from chip and dips to Burner buns with pork, beef fennel and chilli meatballs.
Sub Rosa and Burner have become seasonal staples and take guest through the summer until closing again at the start of autumn. Sister site Botanical Garden is yet to confirm its reopening date.

Last year, Sub Rosa offered guests a free pint in exchange for a pint of their own blood. The bar told guests it would deliver a “pint 4 pint” for anyone who donates a pint of blood to a donation centre.
Sub Rosa’s owner, Pedro Hunter, told the ECHO the exchange was an attempt to drive blood donations. There’s no other reason behind what we’re doing than to get people to give blood. We’ve seen there’s a drive needed for donations so we thought we’d do what we can in the simplest way possible.
“Liverpool is a great city and always comes together when it’s needed so this is another way of helping those who need it. Donating is quick and easy and something most of us can and should do.”
