A £7.9 million project to redevelop Cleethorpes’ Pier Gardens is now underway.

The long-awaited scheme, led by North East Lincolnshire Council, will transform the area into a series of themed zones, including a skate park, water and woodland play areas, and a quiet reflective space for remembrance.

Although the project has previously been given several start dates that passed without action, contractors are now on site and have started installing barriers ahead of construction.

The gardens are expected to be closed to the public for around 15 months while work is carried out by national landscape contractor Maylim.
