I will post some pictures below. I am no expert tree feller. I have done some before but there is a tree in my yard that overhangs my dock that I need to remove. I am trying to take it down with out dropping the pieces on the dock and destroying it. Is there any techniques or equipment that's not too expensive that may help with this?

My plan of attack at the moment is to use old mattress that I could find on FB market place and place them on the dock to cushion the fall, but I feel that this is potentially an easier or simple trick that some experts may have.

For context I have an 18" Stihl gas saw, an 8in pole saw and plenty of rope, pulleys and other tackle.

  1. Can you rent a towable aerial lift? That would be the best.

Looking at that dock I’d look into replacing that and cutting down the tree before putting up the new dock. The lean in those main supports is…wow
