Widely loved and highly acclaimed North West restaurant Moor Hall has this evening (February 9) retained its three Michelin stars, awarded at the 2026 Michelin Guide ceremony in Dublin. Located just 50 minutes from Manchester, Moor Hall in Aughton, West Lancashire, was also voted best restaurant in the UK in December.
At the ceremony, chef Mark Birchall said: “It’s been incredible. But I do want to say, the feeling of standing here with these chefs, and this room, it’s incredible. I think the UK probably has one of the strongest dining scenes in the world. It’s so unique, so diverse. And it’s exciting, it’s really exciting. But this last year has been amazing.”

Constantly praised for its exceptional quality and being an experience from beginning to end, chef Mark Birchall knows how to create the best of the best with local produce, whilst always innovating and championing the North West region.
Perched on five acres of stunning grounds with views across a lake that dates back to medieval times, Moor Hall is a total gem in the Ormskirk countryside. Of course, it’s home to the world-class three-Michelin-star restaurant, plus seven one-of-a-kind luxury bedrooms, in addition to the newer stylish garden rooms each featuring its own private hot tub – perfect for a relaxing evening after your Michelin meal.

Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume in Cartmel also retained its three Michelin stars, cementing the North West as a true foodie hotspot. The remaining eight, three star-retainers all hail from either London or nearby Bray on Thames, highlighting how remarkable Moor Hall and L’Enclume are as the only North West entries to have been awarded and retained those three Michelin stars.
