GARDEN PLAIN, Kan. (KWCH) – Two people were arrested in Garden Plain on Saturday in connection with an aggravated assault involving a gun.

Investigators identified and arrested 20-year-old Cristian Yair Garcia and a 16-year-old boy, both from Cheney, on Saturday morning. They face charges of criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

On Thursday night at about 9:57 p.m., deputies from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the Garden Plain Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in a home in the 300 block of West Lavern Lane.

Four people were inside the home when the shots were fired. No injuries were reported.

At GPPD’s request, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation. Detectives believe one of the victims, who was the intended target of the gunfire, was involved in a drug transaction with the suspects.

Investigation shows that transaction involved counterfeit currency, and the suspects followed the victim home and fired shots into his house.

The investigation is ongoing.
