Federal public service unions are threatening legal action and potential strikes after the government announced a new mandate requiring employees to work in the office four days a week starting in July; two people have been charged with second-degree murder after a 37-year-old man was stabbed to death on Shillington Avenue in Ottawa’s Carlington neighbourhood; and an explosives investigation in London, Ont., has led to charges against four people, including an Ottawa man, after police found hazardous chemicals and firearms.

  1. Unions say the new 4-day office mandate will cause chaos and are threatening legal action or strikes. Do you support the unions' fight against the return-to-office plan? Yes or No?

  2. NO.
You are lucky to have a job. You are an employee, your employer decides where you work, nothing "disgusting" about that. You can always resign if working in an office is not your thing.

  3. The private sector embraces remote work and the public sector takes a step backwards. A government study said remote work saved the country millions of dollars not spent on leasing office space. Stupid decision.

  4. AB-so-f*cking-lutely DISGUSTING that they should have to report to their place of employment and perform "tasks", as a condition of being paid.

    What's the world coming to.🤣

  5. We need a carbon tax to save the planet from climate change, now all you civil servants get back to commuting and producing that carbon…

  6. A friend of mine said it’s great doing his government job from home. He can sleep in, drink beer, smoke pot all day and get paid for it.

  7. The same public service unions that protest in favour of Hamas and the murder of Israeli women , children and elderly

  8. My initial response is, WOW. However, I think working from home will be the norm in the not so distant future. May even save governments money by not having to maintain office buildings. Computer activity is now easily monitored so employees work can be seen by employers.

  9. So did the employees complain or strike when the govt allowed them to work from home because of the pandemic? This wasn’t meant to be a permanent.

  10. STFU and get back to work! I think we need to refresh the public workforce with a nice big round of layoffs 👍👍

  11. Lazy government workers, lazy police who do not investigate or arrest criminals, lazy gov workers don’t want to go to their workplace, then fire them, “no show”

  12. It's about time but then again layoffs are coming so they might be working from home

  13. Get your lazy asses back to the office, what an absolutely disgusting generation we’re living through right now!

  14. 5 days in office or “Your Fired!” Nobody works for 8 hours a day when ‘working’ from home. Covid was over years ago.

  15. Imagine having to actually go to work……….why the discrimination against water works emoyees or roads or any other public emplyee……..

  16. Going to be anticipating a Public Service Workers Union going on full nation wide strike across Canada starting in May2026. The weather will be warmer so the memberships can picket outside without needing heavy winter jackets and fire barrels to keep warm. Should last 3 or 4 months from May2026 through September2026 before the weather gets colder in the Fall2026. So expect Provincial Welfare Agencies, Housing Agencies, and Federal Old Age Accommodation Placement Agencies, Pensions and Employment Insurance to be closed over these 6 months.

  17. You're having heart trouble at your home office ?
We're sorry, all the Paramedics are working from home.
Can you drive to their house ?
The hospital is also closed as everybody is working from home.

  18. Ontario's Unemployment Rate is going down because of those former recipients who have finished their E.I. Benefits and are now off the system's monitoring ability.

  19. A bunch of spoiled parasites who have been living on sucking taxpayer blood. Get a real life.

  20. Boo Hoo 😭 Spoiled brats. Try working in construction 50+ hours a week and for 8 months of the year you are either getting sun stroke, soaked in the rain, freezing in the snow 10 hours a day and on average making under $40,000 per year after the glutenous taxes, cant afford rent, car loan, gas, driving 40,000 kilometres per year to get to work, bills and feeding your family. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. NOT.

  21. Cross communication between coworkers is essential for training, knowledge, experience, quick answers to simple questions instead of endless phone queues. I am a staunch unionist and agree some jobs could and should be to home workers but not all. Work culture is real.

  22. President Reagan Fired the Air Traffic Controllers for their demands . America still survived Fire all these government public union Sucks . Let them sit for a couple of Months with no income . They will beg to come back .
