If you’ve been dreaming of fresh vegetables, flowers, or a herb garden this year, an upcoming seminar at Texas A&M University -Texarkana is here to help you get started.

Texas A&M University-Texarkana, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, and the Bowie County Master Gardeners will host a Get Into Gardening seminar titled “Getting Started with Garden Planning” today, Monday, February 9.

 This free event begins at 6 PM and will be held in Room 326 of the Anita and Truman Arnold University Center on the A&M–Texarkana campus. The seminar is open to the public, and gardeners of all experience levels are welcome.

Learn the Basics of Garden Planning

Brian Triplett, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent for Bowie County, will lead the seminar. Triplett will share practical, easy-to-follow tips for planning and starting a garden, whether you’re interested in vegetables, herbs, or flowers.

Topics will include gardening in the ground, using raised beds, and growing plants in containers, making the session helpful for both backyard gardeners and those with limited space.

From Seeds to Success

You will also learn how to start seeds indoors to grow their own transplants and there will be a question-and-answer session following the presentation.
