Community growers say new planning requirements mark a major step forward after years of campaigning for formal recognition

A recent update in Irish law has been considered “groundbreaking” by a group in Wexford for its impact in recognising community spaces in the State.
With a significant portion of the Planning and Development Act 2024 coming into effect a few weeks ago, community gardens and allotments across Wexford and the country have been recognised in Irish law for the first time.
