Hi there! Had my pothos for about two years. It grew loads. Lives in the bathroom. Fully light as its next to the window. It was trailing to the floor, so got those moss pole things and small clips to help it grow upwards.

Over the winter most of the leaves have come off. I’ve taken advice and chopped a load of the vines (had no joy getting any of them to root). Also tried pinning a vine to the pot, but nothing seems to be happening there either.

Is it going to try growing again, or should I throw in the towel and get a new plant? My other two plants on the windowsill are younger, and doing well.

Cut closer to the nodes for water props, don’t change the water for them either as pothos give off a rooting hormone. With those long vines you can chop it up into “wet sticks”, just a bunch of sticks you put into soil with nodes. They will root but something is off. Does your bathroom get quite cold? I’d say so and especially if it’s close to glass. You’ll need to move it to a warmer spot when it’s cold or get some sort of heating in the bathroom that doesn’t interfere with humidity. Do you have a fan in there aswell? Needs good airflow. The plants aren’t rotting which is a fantastic sign but something is messing with it to make it not grow roots and you might have to figure that out with trial and error. It CAN be saved.

U haven’t been able to get any of the nodes to root? How long did u try to propagate them for? Sometimes it can take longer in the winter. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t root cuz the vines look green and healthy, just leggy from lack of light in the photos. I’ve never had much issue getting pothos to root, but I was trying to root other plants and bought a rooting hormone drop that works wonders. If u decide to get some, just make sure u get the kind with the hormone in it.

Also, I would get better soil in that pot. It’s hard to tell from the pics, but it looks dense. A mix of soil, perlite and orchid bark works great and I mix it myself, so it’s not as costly. I use either regular potting soil or cactus/succulent soil depending on the plant.
    Good luck!
