Hello everyone, I bought this monstera about 3-4weeks ago and she seems to be slow-dying ever since 🙁

Every new leave seems to be breaking of its stem before it even uncurls. One is also (i'm assuming?) half eaten.

I don't know much about plants, so no idea what could be going on here. The older Bigger leaves seem to be doing fine, only the new ones break off. Checked the soil (only on top though, didn't feel like digging through the dirt with the plant being in my bedroom 😅) and can't see anything unusual except maybe some mold (the white fluffy stuff)?

I check the soil every few days and water if dry (every 10-12 days i'd say). It's standing in my bedroom on the floor next to my dresser, probably 1meter away from the window. Get's about 10hours of light a day probably.

Any ideas?

  1. pets? the fluff is root hairs which is normal. pests wont cause this type of breakage, do you have any cats or children? there are multiple plants in this pot and they should ideally be separated, given a support pole and some chunky soil. place in front of a window that gets bright light, if you get full sun make sure to slowly acclimate it so that the leaves dont burn. monsteras love direct light, thats the only way you get a lot of fenestrations even though suitable watering and fertilizer are also necessary.
