Welcome, gardeners! Today I’m spending the day in Sacramento, presenting at the local Home & Garden Show with Michael Glassman. While I’m in town, I’m stopping by the garden center to stock up on essential garden supplies for the season ahead. From fertilizers to pest control and all the little things that keep a garden running smoothly, I’m sharing what I like to keep on hand so I’m prepared as the garden wakes up. It’s such a good feeling to start the season prepared, with the supplies you need already on hand as the garden wakes up. 🌿 Enjoy!

I have been planting petunias in my front pots for YEARS and last year was the first time I had budworms. Now I’m going to be on the lookout for sure.
Hi Janey, thanks for a great info.
Superbena in my garden never gets budworms petunias forget about it 😢😢
💜💜💜💜
Enjoy the variety of subjects and education your channel provides. Always a good day with Janey❣️
HI Janey. Will you be coming to Arizona for Proven Winners again this year?
AWESOME information Janey. . .thank you! 😃 Liz in California
My geraniums got destroyed by bud worms this past year. I had never dealt with them before. I’ll be ready for the bud worms and the earwigs this year!
Love it! I saw in your monthly newsletter to let you know if we’re planting primrose and I am! One of the big reasons I’m going big on primrose this year is because they’re on sale for $.99/each at my local garden center. I mean, why not at that price!!!
2 questions….. Why do you not use diatenasious earth? And since MG is so busy and cant come to TX would you be interested in running a contest where we send a video and you and MG give a mini consult? I'm on almost 2 acres with 12 wooded acres behind us. We can't plant densely due to venomous snakes, nor have a pond for the same reason. We have 3 dogs, that have the run of the land, and a workshop at the back of the property that my husband has to access daily( this means tire tracks in the lawn). How about that for solving problems in the landscape😂.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You got the same primroses that caught my eye this year and came home with me!
OMG, you did it Janey!!! 150,00 subscribers, what a milestone you have reached in a relatively short period of time. Thank you Janey for being a down to earth gal who is passionate about her channel and gardening. Way to go girl!! Hugs from zone 5b south of Buffalo NY where we still have 24 in of snow and temps in single digits at night.
The expo was great! And so was your talk, the amount of people snapping photos of your slides was impressive😊. Isn’t it fun to do talks with a buddy? So much easier! Also, Michael’s booth was very pretty-every time we walked by from a different direction I was like oooohhh look at that one and then promptly realized we’d walked in another circle lol. We also liked the big urban wood and sawmill display-had to get my husband to go with me somehow and he loves woodworking, so there ya go. 🤗 great turnout this year! ☀️☀️here’s to the sunshiny days ahead!
Hi! You did great at the show. I enjoyed seeing you and Michael together and found your talk very informative. I'm reading through your book and it definitely giving me inspiration and ideas!
Watching and taking notes haha on all the items you recommend for pests and plant growth. I live in CA also and same zone. Very excited to try some of these items that are new to me. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the products it’s super helpful. 🌻🤍
Congratulations on 150,000! I enjoy your videos so much and love your family. ❤
Thanks for the great info! ❤M
❤
Great video! As a beginner gardener I feel so lost going into my garden store lol I really enjoy when you go and talk about different products and plants, I feel a little more prepared for my next store trip! 🙂
You are right about the Corry's snail bait, it has metaldyhyde in it. Kills pets and dosn't break down well.. The Sluggo has iron phosphate that doesn't kill pets and breaks down into iron in the soil after a few days.
I use Alaskan fish fertilizer, Liquid Seaweed, Cal-Mag, Superthrive. My plants inside and outside thrive with lots of new growth. Also I appreciate you sharing the products you use, and what there for. Thank you Janie.
Janey, What perfect timing! I turned on this episode as I was making my stock-up list for Green Acres! I'll be planting three new roses this month. When planting new roses do you give them a slow-release such as Osmocote Plus or do you only give them Van Winden's Magic Mix 2-3 times a year?
There can be a dizzying array when you walk into the fertilizer aisle. Thanks for the valuable info on the products that you purchased. Thank you also for the monthly planting guide that you provided in your newsletter yesterday. It will be incredibly handy as we fly through another year. I volunteer at our library, and plan on displaying the guide each month at our seed library. Congratulations on your 151K milestone! ❤💐👏👏
You're so sweet to share Garden Answers sale! Ya know I went straight to it. Thanks for the heads up on all to replenish and stock up on now. Certain products do fly off the shelves faster than others and when there's a good deal – grab it! I love to see the YT garden community showing love for one another. Great job on explaining all the products too.
I’m confused. I thought you were a master gardener. And knowing that, don’t they use IPM (Integrated Pest Management) vs insecticide right off the bat?
Glad you’ve explained IPM. Although IMO insecticide shouldn’t be purchased before you have an issue, but after you have a problem you can’t fix. I think that’s how you explained it.
Thank you Janey for all the info on plants food. I have a difficult time knowing what to look for our buy. I have two new New Dawn rose bushes and I really appreciate the special recipe for those.
Another big milestone reaching 150,000 subscribers!! Oh wait, that’s already old news… 151,000 subscribers, woo hoo!! 🎉🇨🇦
Gophers!
Sluggo Plus…thx so much for this info, Janey! 💚 Had no idea about this treatment for earwigs. Ick!
Did you run into Oliver Douglas while at Green Acres? haha
Goodmorning Janey, can you please recommend how often I should feed my roses with the Van Windens magic rose mix? I live in Northern Virginia 6b-7b. Thank you. Love your videos.
I stocked up on all the bags of fertilizers on clearance at Walmart a few months back at the beginning of fall
Did the video lag or is it just my phone
Can this rose mix be used on lady banks roses and Peggy Martin Roses
Janey!!!!! Buy the bigger bags of fertilizer! You will save money.
16:08 Janey over here hogging the sure start had me rolling 😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂😅
