This little rectangle of land is no different in any way from the land around it except that I placed a load of goat/chicken/sheep poop from their yard and placed it here this winter. The unfertilized plants are sparse, small, and stunted while the plants that were fertilized are thriving (except the tobacco which fell over and hates the cold).

No shit…
I thought it was a gravesite
My college advisor once told me that as part of HIS college research, he went down to somewhere in South America to work on a demonstration of how tilling compacted soil would improve crop yield. He was able to get the field plowed, but the seed he needed for the research demonstration never arrived. However, when the villagers saw the robust weed growth (compared to the unplowed area), they all agreed that the process worked, and he was sent home as a hero. (A hero with no data to publish, but a hero nonetheless…)
I have an open bottomed chicken coop in my yard, and I’m about to move and take it with me. There’s going to be a gorgeous square of grass there for ages, lol.
Water is indeed wet
