Not all gardening tools are easy for everyone to use, particularly when you look at some of the massive power tools on the market. But now, there is one gadget that people of all ages are praising for how amazing it is to use.

Gtech’s Lightweight Hedge Trimmer LHT50 costs £219.99 and has garnered a high rating from customers. Its standout feature is how lightweight it is, clocking in at just 2.14kg, meaning it’s easy to hold – even if you’re using it for a while.

This, coupled with the fact that it has an impressive 10ft long reach, means it can deal with tall and wide hedges easily. It’ll save you from dangerously clambering up a ladder or straining to reach faraway spots.

Gtech says the trimmer can go for 60 minutes in one charge, and only costs 2p to full power up. Nothing is too big a job, as it can apparently cut branches up to 14mm in thickness.

The trimmer also has an adjustable head which rotates through 140 degrees, and has a versatile seven different head positions to choose from. Lastly, it comes with a shoulder strap harness to balance weight distribution and has an easy-to-use safety switch on the side of the handle if needed in the case of an emergency.

For some alternative options, Argos has the Black + Decker 60cm Corded Hedge Trimmer for £65, down from £80. This one weighs 2.65kg, so it is still lightweight, and is said to be ideal for trimming medium-sized hedges and tree branches up to 25mm in diameter.

Another option is the 21V Cordless Strimmer for £55.99 on Amazon. This one has three types of blades: two six-inch metal circular blades, four six-inch metal blades and 10 plastic blades that all have their own purpose. It also has a 90-degree cutting head and can be used for about an hour at a time.

The Lightweight Hedge Trimmer LHT50 has a 4.7 out of 5 star rating on the Gtech website, with one reviewer raving: “I am over 80 and love trimming my hedges etc. This lightweight trimmer is so easy to use.

“I can reach the top of hedges without steps. One click and the battery is removed for charging. I trimmed two substantial small trees and three hedges, and it still had charge left – my energy not so much. I would highly recommend this product. Delighted.”

Another commented: “Always first-class product from Gtech.” A third customer wrote: “This was bought to replace our old on,e and what a difference, I wish I’d bought it sooner. Everything is that little bit easier, a little bit lighter and just cuts like a warm knife through butter. It’s brilliant.”

Not every piece of equipment will be suited for everyone, for example this person removed a star saying: “Very good but could have been better if it could have extended more as it couldn’t reach the top of my conifers.” Another commented: “It has made cutting the hedges in my very big garden much easier as they get higher. I’m not very big, so it does get heavy after a while, though. Very happy with it overall.”
