So I got this calathea (my first plant ever) a couple of months ago and it’s not doing very well.

It’s been very wilty ever since I first repotted it and it seems to either be too dry or overwatered so quickly. It seems like it needs watering every few days. I repotted again a week ago because I wanted to see if bottom watering would help cause it’s been especially sad lately.

When I repotted I noticed that there was sap on the underside of the plant, so I wiped it down after repotting. It seemed to be doing a little better, but then all of a sudden today it’s wilted and brown and there’s big holes in it.

Is it possible that there are bugs that make such big holes? I do have cats so maybe it was them but I’ve been home today and I didn’t see anything happen.

Sorry for the long post. I’m just very confused and stressed out and nothing seems to be working. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!!

PS. It is also really cold today and I know my apartment is probably not as humid as it should be so maybe that’s a factor? I’m lost at this point.

First off they don’t like being in a area that is or could be drafty hince a window..Calathea also prefer temps between 65 – 85 degrees with high humidity…Hope this helped some 🪴♥️
