TLDR: FLF was overwatered and isn’t perking up after repotting. How long do I give it before I make some cuts and trying to save what I can?
This FLF was re-homed to me about a year ago, and was very, very root bound. I put her in a spot that’s about 5 feet away from a large west-facing window, avoided direct eye contact, and watered every week or two.
I waited about 4 months to repot, and couldn’t really wait any longer because the soil was hydrophobic. I realized after a couple weeks that the soil was a little more dense than I had intended, but decided to just go with it for a while to avoid too much stress on her. I started getting a few leaves, so crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
Then, I went out of town for a couple weeks. I gave my house sitter very specific watering instructions, and when I came back it was completely flooded! Trying to get it to dry out was unsuccessful, with brown spots forming on many leaves.
Once it started smelling musty I decided to repot for the second time in 3 months. 🙁 I removed a few squishy roots, treated with hydrogen peroxide, and made a mix of potting soil, orchid bark, perlite and a little leca. I put it back in the same well-fitting pot, but cleaned it thoroughly first. I know the browned leaves need to come off but I can’t bring myself to do it yet!
That was a week ago, and now it looks like this. I’m sure it’s in shock, and I’m so disappointed! Current plan is move her right by the window and water as needed but otherwise ignore it, hoping for the best. I’m new to FLFs, although I have a smaller one that’s been doing well for about 3 years. How long do I give it to perk up before chopping and trying to salvage what I can?
