I took this plant from my friend who was moving and wanted to throw it away. I would say it is not in a good condition because my friend neglected it pretty bad.

I read that they love sunlight and need to be regularly watered, which i have been doing, but top leaves started to dry out.

How can i nurse it back to health?🥲 i never had such a plant before and i would really love to see it happy

I know it is not dead because bottom leaves still feel alive and i got this green part.

I would really appreciate any help and also any tips to how overall take care of such a plant

Does the pot have drainage? In general, you want to water this plant very deeply until water comes out the bottom. Then don’t let it sit in water for more than a few hours. Then don’t water it again until the top layer of soil is nice and dry. You want to give it regular wet/dry cycles, but you also don’t want to let it dry out completely.

This plant is still recoverable if you act quickly and can figure out what’s making it unhappy.

Is it cold where you are? This looks like cold damaged leaves to me. OP cut that top off – it’s dead. The trunk/stem will pop off new growth. Keep directly infront of a window and only water every 10-14days in winter – every 7 days or so in summer.
