We’re pretty limited on space, but adding a barrel sauna to this slot here behind the house. Concerned that if we just put pavers down drainage could be an issue? Or at least a lot of puddles…

As long as it doesn’t result in a pitch towards the foundation it shouldn’t be an issue.
What about the window? Find somewhere else…
As far as the drainage, I think your question is if you half-ass it, will you get crummy results or should you take the extra time to do it right? Is that what you want to know?
