Good morning all and thanks for stopping by! It is another Saturday morning and here in my little corner of SW Oregon it has been a week of teasingly warm sunny weather. I know the groundhog saw his shadow and that is supposed to mean six more weeks of winter so I am enjoying it while it lasts!
Welcome to SMGB!
Good morning, Saturday Morning Garden Blog-Friends old and new! This cheerful long-running tradition appears every Saturday morning at 9am Eastern, and lasts well into the week as conversations percolate. A core crew of us reads every comment, as far into the week as it goes.

This is a good time of year to review past years’ seasons and just get a general inventory of pots, seeds, soil, etc. I was reminded that we do get snow here when I looked back at last Feb. and saw that at this time we actually had a decent amount of snow and it lasted quite some time! Normally we don’t get much here on the valley floor and then it melts within a day or two. Not so last year!

What a difference! This was Feb. 2025
So with this warm tease of spring weather I tackled cleaning out the corner where I had this metal rack with empty pots on it. That corner gets lots of leaves piled up and I couldn’t clear them out without moving everything.

The metal rack in the corner next to the wooden bookshelf.
I knew I wanted to move the wooden bookshelf into that corner instead so I set about moving all the stuff off the metal rack and clearing it out. I ended up with a small pile of leaves and lots of stuff scattered about.

The metal rack out of the corner now and the pile of leaves that was in that corner.
Next was to move stuff off of the wooden bookshelf so I could move it. Lucky for me it fit neatly into place snugged up against the little greenhouse. Got things tidied up and back on the shelves.

Things in their new spots, leaves swept off the deck and now it’s time for a break!

Hey, did you know there was this big blue wall back here? 😅The pot at the bottom has my daffodil and fritillaria bulbs in it.
For now I am leaving the metal rack to use as I clean up more stuff and sort things to be tossed. Then I will probably take it out to the garage. It isn’t really meant to be out in the weather and it takes up a lot of space. Next will be clearing out the various pots and pruning. Depending on the weather I may wait to prune until later in the month.
Speaking of weather, if you haven’t already do check out FishOutofWater’s latest diary on possible severe weather outbreaks coming this spring: Stretched Polar Vortex set to Split in Two likely leading to Severe Tornado outbreaks in March. Thought of all the garden visitors from the Midwest & SE when I saw it yesterday. Considering what has been done to NOAA & FEMA it is so important that people get this info so they can prepare.
Looking forward to the Superb Owl this Sunday! We are both happy to see Seattle make it this far and hope to see a good game. Menu for game day is good snacking & noshing food:
Crockpot Honey Garlic Little Smokies
Parmesan Mustard Pinwheels
Macaroni Salad
Artichoke & Parmesan Dip w/Tortilla chips
That’s pretty much what I’ve got going on here. How about you? What is going on in your gardens? Still buried in snow? Or are you already planting spring crops? Or maybe you are finishing your harvest and preparing for fall? Wherever in the world you are, we love hearing from you!
