Last year, I started replacing my lawn with a native prairie garden. This year, I was amazed at the dozens of different insects that appeared that I had never seen before.
We have pushed nature to the outskirts of the human world and replaced it with environments that don’t support life. Pollinator and bird populations are in decline, and to reverse these trends, we need to rethink the spaces closest to us, especially our lawns. Converting even a small patch of lawn can provide crucial habitat for so many insects.

  1. Replacing my front lawn with natives was the best decision I've ever made. So much insect, bird and other wildlife activity. My kids and I can stand out there and watch the happenings for hours. I will plant more every year until I no longer have grass, we owe it to our local ecosystems, plant native!
