G'day. I'm trying to establish a native garden in my backyard in the NSW Hunter Valley. The problem is – if it is in fact a problem – is a long rock ledge running the entire width of the area. Ths rock is close to the surface and therefore limits the space available for plant roots to spread. Will I have to 'build up' the garden beds to make this thing work, and if so, what soil depth do native shrubs need to survive and prosper?
