MILL HALL — The Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Clinton County are pleased to announce “Seed to Supper,” a comprehensive three-week course designed for novice gardeners who want to learn how to grow their own fresh vegetables.

The program will take place on three consecutive Saturday mornings: March 14, 21 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes will be held at the Mary Ann Bower Learning Center and Penn State Extension office, 47 Cooperation Lane, Mill Hall.

“Seed to Supper” is an extensive program that provides adult participants with the essential knowledge and skills to grow a portion of their own food. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including:

— Developing healthy soils.

— Proper planting, care and maintenance.

— Selecting helpful gardening tools.

— Starting a garden from seeds versus transplants.

— Effective garden planning and harvesting techniques.

Originally developed through a collaboration between the Oregon State Extension Master Gardeners and the Oregon Food Bank, the “Seed to Supper” coursebook has been specially adapted by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners to reflect Pennsylvania’s unique gardening climate and growing conditions.

Registration costs $10 per person, which covers the cost of supplies. To register, visit https://pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3O5yvvnLazszHac.
