Hello arborist types! I've noticed some weird, leaky holes in a maple tree in my backyard. The holes are slightly smaller than the diameter of a pencil and don't seem to be deeper than the pencil tip. I used google lens to search for answers on what it might be and the "Asian Longhorned Beetle" came up: an invasive species. I'm in upstate SC. There have been reports in the lower state. I have not seen any actual beetles. I store firewood in my backyard which is a possible source.
I'm just wondering if anyone has seen this before.
