I just bought this yesterday at HomeDepot. Looks healthy but I’m wondering about keeping two in a pot. I will transplant to a bigger pot soon but should I split them apart and if so, how? I’m sure it is one big root ball.

For now, don’t do anything. Just set it right in your brightest window. Water it very deeply until water comes out the bottom, but make sure it doesn’t sit in water for more than some number of hours. Then water it again once the top layer of soil is nice and dry again.

Once it’s growing again, it is safe to repot. When you take it out of the pot, cut off any roots that are growing around in circles as well as any that are forming a mat on the bottom. Then remove all the soil. If you think you can tease two trees apart, go for it, but it’s not important if their are two trees in one pot. Repot into chunky well draining soil.
