Ever wonder why some front yards look nice… but still feel unfinished?

In this video, I break down one of the most common front yard landscaping mistakes homeowners make — especially in newer homes and builder-grade neighborhoods. Nothing is technically “wrong,” yet the yard never feels complete, intentional, or professionally designed.

You’ll learn:

✅ Why front yards often feel incomplete or flat

✅ The design detail most homeowners (and builders) skip

✅ How professional landscape designers think about balance, spacing, and structure

✅ Simple layout adjustments that instantly make a front yard feel finished

✅ The difference between adding plants and actually designing a landscape

This isn’t about spending more money — it’s about using space correctly, creating visual hierarchy, and understanding how front yard landscaping should guide the eye.

If your front yard feels: Forgettable, Builder-grade, Random, or Flat
…this video will explain exactly why — and how to fix it the right way.

  1. Thanks for doing this video! Would the composition be different for a less formal front yard. For instance a woodland vibe.

  2. I was taught in school 10% of a homes value should be invested in the yard. No one follows this rule.

  3. Are viewers able to send house pictures to you? Cuz I have an impossible house. Its just so ugly- and I dont think its possible to make it nice.

  4. How would you landscape a front yard with a reddish colored picket fence surrounding the front, small, yard and a handicap ramp to front door?
This issue of the ramp was a challenging one for me.
I searched online for any ideas and found NONE.
However, to take the eye off the unsightly wooden ramp, I built an arbor over the end of it to be more welcoming from curb.
I put the picket fence up to keep wandering dogs from destroying the investment I put into my plants.

  5. You didnt actually show the before and after at the end of the video. I think it was just nighttime lighting vs daytime bushes. I think your channel is going to be a big hit as the topics are endless!

  6. For the10% of the population who is colorblind, that dark red pot disappears, becoming part of the mulch. It might as well not be there at all.
