I have a Douglas fir that as tall as 6 floors or more, it had a fork at top. I had one side cut down after asking the local tree cutters. I noticed 2 more trees, one is Douglas fir and other is red cedar. The Douglas fir has a fork at much lower height and cedar at higher height. So fir has to come down. I can cut one side on cedar. I have close to 50 trees on my lot but these 2 are very close to house, so want to reduce the risk.

I’m seeing a V-shaped union and leaking sap in the first pic. It will have included bark (barked trapped between the two stems) making it unstable. Difficult to see the union in the second pic, but looks U-shaped to me. U-shapes are much more stable.
