I am panic gardening for the first time (political instability & all).

How does my plan look? It's a small, raised, self-watering bed from Costco.

Are the plants complementary? Is it overcrowded? I tried my best to space things out according to seed packets.

Located in a SoCal desert climate (9B).

For reference, the flowers are marigolds (M), Nasturiums (N), and Calendula (C).

TIA!

Only thing I would be concerned about is the cucumber. But give it a try! They can get big quick, so choose a smaller variety.

Carrots are tough to get a decent yield as a first timer. Something easier might be warranted. AI is your friend here

As someone in so cal 10a, plan on the cilantro and lettuce only growing for a short window of time, before it gets slightly warm and they start bolting. If anything you can plant those on the outer edges of the flower bed so you can plant something else like tomatoes or something in the middle where the real estate is prime. Or try growing cilantro in a window indoors.
Tomatoes are very easy and you can grow ones in a small space, just look for “compact, dwarf, container-friendly” varieties. I also recommend looking into heat tolerant varieties like heatmaster.
Nasturtiums might try and take over, I might grow those in a separate pot if possible.
Also highly recommend getting shade cloth and draping it over some hoops to protect things from the blasting summer sun. DM me if you have any questions, this is my second year doing this also due to political instability lol.

I don’t think you need specific place for two lettuces.
I would use the spave for bigger plants and plant lettuces in between, as they grow quicker.
Also they Will enjoy Share from bigger plants when the sun gets strong..

    Enjoy and good luck!
