Just moved into a new house 2 months ago. Tree had normal foliage (green) which turned red about a month ago and then the leaves fell off, normal for winter I’m assuming. But today I was walking by when I noticed the bark is missing in a few big chunks on the trunk. I’ll definitely get an arborist out to take a look, but I just wanted to get a general sense of how urgent this is. Will the tree fall down? Thanks in advance for any info.
