ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – Fresh Roots Rising Youth Program invites the community to Open Farm Day on Saturday, Feb. 7.

The event will take place at the 5th Avenue Community Garden from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Farm Day celebration was designed to give beginning gardeners and aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to grow knowledge about healthy food production.

Open Farm Day will also feature how-to stations focused on:

Garden planning and mapping Garden reset and soil care Small-space growing Seed Starting

“Youth are learning that growing food is just the beginning,” said Fredando “Farmer Fredo” Jackson, Flint River Fresh’s Executive Director. “This Open Farm Day shows how gardening connects to leadership, entrepreneurship, and real opportunities for families and neighborhoods.”

Organizers encourage community members to attend this event as it is perfect for all experience levels. This event is free and open to the public.
