NYBG’s 23rd Orchid Show runs from February 7 2026, featuring a New York City-themed transformation by Mr. Flower Fantastic.
The exhibition blends immersive orchid installations with science, pop culture, and after-hours Orchid Nights.
New York’s most extravagant floral takeover is back, and this time, it’s fully in its city era. The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle, the 23rd edition of the New York Botanical Garden’s (NYBG) annual orchid spectacular, opens on February 7 and runs until April 26, 2026. The major attraction will undoubtedly be the full-blown transformation of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory into a technicolour ode to New York City itself.
Designed by New York-born artist Mr. Flower Fantastic, the exhibition (or should we say a bold, botanical love letter?) swaps pristine greenhouse tropes for the grit and glamour of the five boroughs. Imagine orchids erupting from fire hydrants, cascading over stoops, spilling through subway scenes and reimagining slice shops, scaffolding and street corners in thousands of blooms.

Firstly, the scale. Known for blending floristry with pop culture and street aesthetics (and for big-name collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Adidas and Netflix) Mr. Flower Fantastic brings his signature mash-up of flowers, sculpture and cultural references to NYBG on an unprecedented level, presenting a “striking reinterpretation of botanical design”.
This also marks his first solo institutional exhibition, and rather than focusing on standalone floral pieces, he decided to go all out with an entire immersive world for visitors to wander through.
Did you know?
Orchids may be synonymous with the tropics, but they also grow in New York State, and NYBG scientists are still discovering new species.
Secondly, everything immersive and experiential at The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic’s Concrete Jungle. While surrounded by orchids in every imaginable shade and form, visitors can dig into the science behind them, from learning about orchid diversity, hybridisation and care, to NYBG’s ongoing global orchid research and conservation work. On select weekends throughout the run, the Garden’s horticulture team will also be on hand to share expert tips on orchid care.
And lastly, the after-hours scene. From March 21, 2026, Orchid Nights return on select evenings, inviting adults 21 and over to experience the exhibition as a botanical block party. Expect music, dancing, cash bars and food for purchase, all set within what NYBG dubs “the lushest bar in town”.
