Hi friends! Have grown from tubers the past 2 years, potting them in May & transplanting in early June. Is there a way to get started sooner? My garden is a 20×20 plot in Southwestern Michigan.

I’m bored of winter & itching to have plant babies to tend. Would love any step by step guides with approximate timing that y’all recommend.

I bought Floret seeds to start inside & have this thing as my indoor jump starter https://www.barrina-led.com/products/barrina-indoor-greenhouse-with-1-pack-40w-led-grow-light-panel-3-spectrum-full-spectrum-tent-timer-df40

I’ve used a heating pad & grow lights to start Zinnia seeds inside but they get leggy & don’t transplant well. Is that the case for Dahlia seedlings?

Do I start seeds before tubers? Simultaneously? I don’t want to rush & cause an extinction event before the season even starts but I want blooms as soon as possible this summer. Greedy I know!

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:

When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!

*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).

If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.

If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.
