Does anyone know why my spider plant is turning brown?
I water it once a week, it’s in a spot that gets bright indirect light, I remove the bottom tray after watering and have it hang over the sink for a day so it doesn’t get wet feet, I trim the brown ends off the leaves, and I got the soil the person at Home Depot recommended.
The only thing I can think of that might be an issue is the tap water at my place is very hard. One of my cats throws up when he drinks it and it tastes weird when I drink it.
I’m including a photo to show y’all what my tap water looks like in case that might be the reason all my plants die. Do I need to start using bottled water for my spider plant? Or is there another reason why it might be turning brown?
I’m just trying to keep a plant alive 🙁

Your plant is not dying. It looks pretty healthy. Brown tips are something we all deal with. No plant looks perfect. That doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.
I don’t think water quality is the problem with your plant. FYI leaving water out overnight is not effective to decrease ?chemicals
It sounds like you’re watering it pretty frequently. Are you waiting until the foliage appears to need moisture? Spider plants are pretty good at retaining moisture. Wait to water when the leaves fold or droop
Also, variegation means it needs more light to effectively process water.
Have you pulled it out to check the roots?
Plant looks fine…. Leaves aren’t forever. Maybe increase the light if you’re watering it once a week on a schedule as a rule?
And you can use API aquarium tap water conditioner for your hard water! It’s like $11 at Walmart. One bottle lasts a long time too.
