The Little Seedlings Club, based at Dobbies Garden Centre, ran a workshop attended by Councillor Leanne Stevenson where families engaged in composting and planting activities.

Sharing her positive experience on social media, Cllr Stevenson noted how she found the event valuable in imparting knowledge to children about healthy soil, the importance of worms, and how an ecosystem works.

Cllr Stevenson said: “The staff were warm and engaging and the children took part in hands-on composting and planting activities, learning how food scraps become compost, how worms help break things down, and why healthy soil matters.

“It was a real positive experience that helps children understand compost, soil and growing, while showing how plants, worms and insects all connect in the wider ecosystem.”

The session also provided children with the opportunity to interact with activity sheets and take home potted plants.

Following the Sunday event, the club will be holding another session titled ‘Perfect Peas and Pod Plants’ taking place on March 1.
