RHS Garden Bridgewater in Salford is inviting families to step into the enchanting world of The Wind in the Willows this February, as part of a new collaboration with publisher Farshore, part of HarperCollins Publishers.
The garden will be transformed from Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, February 22, with a range of nature-themed activities and an interactive trail inspired by E. H. Shepard’s iconic illustrations for the Kenneth Grahame tale.
At the centre of the experience is The Wind in the Willows: A Garden Adventure, a new trail that will remain at RHS Garden Bridgewater throughout the year.
Designed for both children and adults, the trail guides visitors through the garden alongside Mole, Ratty, Badger, and other beloved characters, with scenes from the classic story brought to life through Shepard’s artwork.
The programme blends outdoor discovery with creativity and storytelling, offering families a memorable way to explore the gardens together.
To complement the trail, RHS Garden Bridgewater is also offering drop-in creative sessions during Half Term.
On Tuesday, February 17 and Wednesday, February 18, from 10am to 2.30pm, children can take part in hands-on craft activities.
Children can enjoy hands-on crafts, creating character puppets or decorating bookmarks inspired by The Wind in the Willows.
On Thursday, February 19, there will be a planting activity.
Young gardeners can plant ingredients for pea and watercress soup, learning about food growing through fun, interactive planting activities.
The garden has also announced The Wind in the Willows Big Picnic, set to take place on Saturday, July 4.
More details about the event will be shared in the coming months.
Admission to RHS Garden Bridgewater applies for all activities.
Entry is free for RHS members and children under five.
Children aged five to 16 can visit for £5, and adults can save up to 25 per cent by booking online in advance.
The garden is open daily from 10am to 4pm during Half Term.
