While above-ground growth may seem sluggish, the activities in vegetable beds at this time can significantly influence the success of the spring growing season.
With spring merely weeks away, gardeners can implement straightforward yet impactful measures to give their crops the best possible start. Gardening Expert Kate Turner from Miracle-Gro has shared her top tips and tricks for preserving plants this winter.
Kate Turner recommends keeping plant beds cosy through the winter months, saying: “To get an early start on sowing, you can use cloches, temporary fleece or membrane covers to trap heat. Utilising these items will protect plants from winter chills, as well as increase soil temperatures, creating better conditions for seeds and young plants to begin sprouting before spring.”
