‘As part of ongoing facility maintenance, the lighting over the ice at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens is being replaced because the old fixtures have reached the end of their service life’

The City of North Bay is brightening up Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens.

The City is changing the lighting at the facility this week.

“As part of ongoing facility maintenance, the lighting over the ice at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens is being replaced because the old fixtures have reached the end of their service life,” said Gord Young, communications officer, City of North Bay, in an email to BayToday.

Young noted that most of the work this past week has been done after hours.

“The work, which reuses the existing control system, is taking place overnight to minimize disruptions and is expected to be complete early next week,” explained Young.

“The new lights will operate similarly to the previous system, with some minor efficiency improvements.”

Due to the light changes, the arena surface appears to have contrasting lighting in the middle of the ice compared to along the boards.
