Controversy on whether to soak these, or just spray. I have been soaking them every couple weeks. But I bought some from a dealer at the Green market, his were beautiful and all blooming. He said they should never be soaked.
So what is best??

I soak in summer and only spray in winter.
50-50 in the other times.
I never submerges the core underwater
You might want to consider dunking rather than soaking, since this is a xeric species that doesn’t need a ton of water. Soaking can be helpful if you forget to water it for a while, though. Make sure you use either water that has sat out for several hours, rain water (preferrable) or spring water. Dunk it upside down into the bowl/bucket of water for a few minutes (I keep the base out of the water), then let it air dry upside down and out of direct sunlight. Also, make sure your water is room temperature. I learned this the hard way with some very cold water that caused brown spots of damage on my xerographica due to the shock of temperature fluctuation. Your plant is beautiful, enjoy it!
