Hey Neighbor! Food is essential for survival—and in this episode, we dig into a serious question: could you make it through a food shortage? With rising grocery prices, ongoing supply-chain issues, and concerns around future crop production, being prepared matters more than ever. We break down what’s happening behind the scenes—from increased wheat and corn costs to fertilizer and labor challenges—and why planning ahead with even a 3-month food strategy is a smart place to start.

We also share current garden updates (multiplying onions, aspabroc, sweet magnolia peas, Detroit dark red beets, carrots, and spinach) and introduce a new standout variety: FanciPak Hybrid Pickling Cucumber F1, bred for high yields, strong disease resistance, and perfect pickling size in just 50 days. Finally, we cover practical ways to prepare: start a garden (even indoors), learn food preservation methods like canning, freezing, fermenting, and pickling, and consider small livestock like chickens. Preserving food helps reduce waste, save money, extend seasonal flavors, and build real self-reliance—skills that matter whether times are uncertain or simply expensive. 1. The trick to having enough is to can, can, can. We are 5 seasons in,and we are overrun with food. So much that I'm not even planting some things this year.

  2. Thank y'all. Always try to grow more than we need and preserve all the extra in case we have a bad growing year. Have a blessed day.

  3. Video started and I said that table display is about to become snacks……Sheila having more fun than Greg picking out the snacks just made my day!❤❤❤❤❤😂😂❤😂😂😂😂😂

  4. The hoss bobblehead is hiding in the middle of all that lettuce. Those veggies layed out in front of you are gorgeous!

  5. We're all frozen here in zone 4b…but I'm still dreaming of this year's garden! I found Mr Hoss bobblehead right there in that lettuce tray! ❤

  6. I grow my lettuce indoors with a Hoss grow light. I get some minimal browning of the leaves right at the edges of some of the leaves (not all). Any advice?

  7. Beautiful winter haul from your fall planting. We've been eating from the garden too and you just can't beat fresh from your own backyard .
The bobble head is in the lettuce 😂

  8. On the celery bed being to much comment, wait untill you try juicing 😄 1 bunch celery every 3 days per person
Can't wait for my celery to sprout. Im 7A southern IL. We still in frozen land. About 90 days untill last frost

  9. The Greg bobble head is in the lettuce. His lettuce is looking much better than mine right now as well as my spinach. I’ll get there though.

  10. I spotted the bobble head in the lettuce tray! Just got my Hoss seeds in! I am a Hoss newbie from Texas!

  11. Never thought about growing lettuce in a flat like that. So awesome! Is that one of those self irrigating bobble heads in there? 😁
