#17 is totally wrong. Snails are not deterred by eggshells. Also, even as a fine powder, crushed eggshells are still not bio-available to plants. That takes several seasons to happen. They do have positive use: earthworms, particularly red wigglers, can use the grit eggshells provide in their gizzards to crush up organic matter.
