After any kind of advice how to get out garden back. The soil is clay and we are at the bottom of a development so obviously the water comes down towards us but this is ridiculous, it is like a bog out there.
Pooling water is especially bad where the mud pool is but it’s still very marshy by the hot tub.
Thinking about a vegetable patch where the worst of it is but would this get waterlogged still.

Dig it all out, install a soakaway pit. Sand and topsoil again. You could build it up too, but unless you tackle the drainage, you’ll be back to this image next year
Half of my garden looks similar because some handymen trampled the shit out of it and it’s not the right weather for grass and such to regrow. You’re going to want to leave it alone for a while until you can see what’s growing back. I’ve got crap loads of clover seeds to chuck on mine as I had a clover lawn in my previous garden and it was lovely and so low maintenance, plus lovely and springy to walk on!
Look up some “french drainage” on you tube.
Install a rain garden in the swampy bit, add wetlands plants around the edge to hold the soil. Add trees or shrubs as the roots will hold the soil together and soak up water.
If you dig a 2 foot deep hole in the corner and cover it over, then check back after a day or two you can see whether the problem is drainage or the water table by how much water is in the hole
No, that’s a marsh, swamps have trees.
Get a couple of silver birch saplings, maybe some wetland plants to suck up that water
You must have a drain somewhere, just put a french drain around entire garden bit and slope it toward your drain and you’ll be fine, mine wasn’t faaar of when I moved in and I had french drains installed and its absolutely fine now.
I’ve used 40mm push fit pipes and drilled a million holes through the top half, burried all in sand and rocks and it works perfect.

Find the wettest, lowest bit and plant two willows. That will genuinely sort it in a couple of years – they drink like fish.
