Hey we live in a new build town house in Auckland, New Zealand for last 2 years. The retaining wall in the garden area started seeping water and has caused a lot of clay buildup under the bark. Yes it's a dig out build to level the land hence the soil behind the wall is 1 meter higher and neighbours have a large grass lawn. I'm planning on paving the area with tile and gravel or similar, however would like to address the clay/seeping of water. I dug a temporary trench to move the water to the private storm water drain and protect my neighbour adjacent on the slope. It kind of smells unpleasant too, and we had a fly infestation (1000s). I've removed all the rotting bark and killed all the flies. It still smells though – I think my neighbours are cooks and drain oil into the storm water drain ( will give Auckland council a call).Any hack arounds or does master build cover such things? I can't quite deck off the area as there are main drain/waste water pipes located under.. also where/who could collect about 400kg of bark/clay and rocks :)??
