My lovely neighbor just gave me these as a gift and I really don’t want to kill them!

I’m grow a large outdoor garden and have quite the green thumb with outdoor plants, but I manage to kill every succulent I get! What do these need? Indirect sunlight with just the proper amount of neglect?

Any help is appreciated!

Not totally sure about all of them but brown/red one on the left, if it’s a golden sedum, loves more than bright indirect. I have mine in a south facing window and directly under a grow light

Typically it’s a good idea to separate succulents in an arrangement if you aren’t super familiar with them as they often have veerryy different light/water needs

The general advice is that these are desert plants. They thrive in sunlight, with long periods of drought and intermittent periods of rain that soaks thoroughly into the ground. That water also needs to drain off quickly.

Individual needs of each succulent may vary. So the safest way to ensure longevity is to separate them so that you have better control over watering and placement (direct vs indirect sun) based on their needs. Usually the ones with thicker farina (the powdery layer on the leaves), the more sun they prefer. Introduce changes slowly to get them accustomed to their new environments.

Since you already have an outdoor garden, just remember to plant these in spots where water doesn’t congregate (if planting in the ground). Also, separate the plants that need high humidity from these ones.

!beginner bot will probably be helpful here. Have fun!

Where do you live – As in what Growing Zone, climate and season are you in?

Keep track of when they get watered. I water mine every two to three months. I bought two dish arrangements like yours. They eventually out grew the dish. I moved them to separate pots and the are doing great. I used a mix of half cactus soil and half perlite. Make sure the pots have a hole in the bottom.

Give them some space to breathe these arrangements in my opinion are sold to live a little bit the die bc there’s not enough room for the roots to grow so ya know survival of the fittest
