hi! this was perfectly healthy for months up until ~2 weeks ago. we typically water using the pot (it’s the type that carries water up the string). the only change we’ve made was a one-time watering from the top of the soil. it sits in a bay window with plenty of light. any ideas on what might be wrong?

edit* the one-time change in watering method was a few days after it first began drooping, but it has been watered normally since. could it be a draft from the window?

This plant looks super under watered.

I think there’s something wrong with the self watering part of this pot. That soil looks super dry and that plant looks very very thirsty.

There’s also a possibility that the dehydration has been caused by over watering. Monsters like a nice wet dry cycle so don’t do well constantly wet in soil and the roots can rot easily.

I’d recommend giving up on the self watering and water when dry by soaking the whole pot. And then watering again only when completely dry.

Compromised root health from being kept moist for too long will make it appear like it needs water because the roots can’t uptake water. Self-watering pots are less than ideal because they don’t let the substrate thoroughly dry. I strongly encourage you to assess root health. 💚
